TESSA'S BIG GIRL BED FOR HER 4TH BIRTHDAY

Tessa Calista "technically" got her birthday bed...2 weeks after her birthday.

You see, since this was a second hand bed but in perfect condition bed. Only it was varnished... So I had to sand it all first. So far so good. Then i was looking for the "perfect" NON _TOXIC paint. I got very lucky : in our local "Leroy Merlin" store i found the PERFECT one ! Totally eco -friendly : even the container is 100% recycable. No need to go to "la dechetterie" to get rid of it properly. AWESOME! And i found it in the right color {i was wearing the "reference color" on me : a beloved well worn pair of pants}. I am telling you : details are everything {to me!}.

Anyhow, what I did not know was that thanks to our so sunny  parisian weather ;-}the paint will take a week to fully dry...  I found this out after taking the time to simply read the label on the side...

I was so bummed when i found out that she will have her bad AFTER her birth day... I could have cried... All my efforts ...for close to nothing...?? Non, pas possible!

Once again, my lovely husband told me that in the end, she would not mind so much, too happy to have a new bed. 

And once again, he was right.

(still need to finish painting the "balls" ornating the corners...oh well. Tessa asked me to paint them in BRIGHT pink to match the "moon: on her wall! Will do!)

Week-end made simple

It usually starts with the girls and their papa making 

the family tradition :: 

coffee cake and scrambled eggs

[since couple months now : i am brought to bed a nice cup of warm tea so i can linger in bed with books and magazines. really nice.

 

well, not served in those above... 

but those are Alana great playdooh creations that we are not allowed to undo.

i had a great maman's day!

slept in [until 8:30pm], had a great homemade breakfast, lots of homemade [cards and trinkets] and cool ikks gifts [ i  love them]. And flowers!

A crazy month...

...since the last post [aka Thanskgiving] i realized i have not post a single one since... Well, the truth is i have been quite buzy with getting ready for Christmas [ as everyone is] but also for our BIg girl Alana, who will celebrate her 6th birthday... FOUR DAYS prior to Christmas!! Add to this a few Christmas parties at school for both girls where i volunteer for cookies and cake baking = a crazty buzy month.

But all is well now, most of my handmade gifts are made and wrapped, some are on their way to be delivered, and some are still being completed!!! Pictures will revealed here in few days...

As for now here are some pictures of this buzy time in our life!

From the outside :: Alana's handmade pre-Christmas  [for the advent calendar] gift for her little sister... Alana recently started calling herself 'the artist"...Apples don't fall too far from the tree...

Inside the envelop :: a nice drawing and an envelop with stickers so Tessa can decorate and personalize it ... Really thoughtful...

Shades of green + orange :: from summer to fall

We can feel the season change here around Paris. The air is cooler and crisper than it was couple days ago. In echo to Amanda's picture we too are experiencing this autumn transition. We shifted summer clothes for wintery clothes around here. With much excitement for the girls as this means :: new [as in totally thrifted ! ] coats and boots. Brand new tights. Soon enough will come maman's knitted hats  and the handmade scarfs form last year... We also experienced the first colds and coughs [poor Tessa's red and runny nose on picture below] ...

But right now to keep a summer linger in a little bit longer ::we added some indoor grass for the girls to hopscotch on...! And we greened our parisian courtyard. It was for the best as we finally have the planters and bamboos and such in place ready to give us a shade of green all winter long. 

The girls still can enjoy to have their "restaurant table' outside and dine out for couple more weeks maybe?

One of my millions projects

My husband will tell you :: if there is anything that can make my life a tiny bit more complicated I usually jump right in. Since I don't like bying things but rather making them everything takes way more time. I guess i am just not as organized as i thought i was [aka B.C. "before children]. I have no idea how Amanda does it all. This awesome mummy has some secrets. But anyway, one of my tiny little projects finally gone done... 3 months later. My actions get usually sucked up in some tornado- days where most of my creative tries are shredded into 5 minutes chances to create something that usually require my full attention...  

So to my long list i am still hoping to :: 

- build Tessa Calista's bed very soon [yes, build not buy :: see first sentence to sympathize with the love of my life] ; 

- finish decorating Alana' and Tessa Calista's bedrooms ; 

- try my great find second hand sewing machine and make some easy cloth for the girls ; 

- sand and paint & customize kitchen table and 6 chairs to turn them into more contemporary ones instead of buying new ones; 

- Customize a floor lamp belonging once to my mum

.... etc...etc...

As for now mini project #1 is done.

What we did...

...those past few days while recovering from ::

a] flu [or at least i had all the symptoms]
b] bronchitis [both girls are pretty sick]
c] jet lag [ for Papa travelling way too much]

Maman is "out of order" :: this is what happen when papa comes home :: they go CRAZY

As for me I am all set :: new issues from Elle Deco, Marie Claire Maison & THE book i was waiting for a while :: Soulemama's Creative family one

A little bit of yarn :: The little ball of yarn from the previous picture is actually Alana's. She did take on knitting with the great Soulemama's way of memorizing [in the wood goes the hunter / around the tree goes the dog,etc...]. She missed a lot of stiches but she kept on going on [ and i kept trying to catch the naughty get away stiches].
She wanted to knit a blanket for her "Cereal" [this doll is about 10 centimeters tall and 4 wide...]. She soon be very cosy under her special blanky.

Papa did have a little bit of rest [ not much when i am a total wreck] :: a cute proof ::

And Louma, as for the pictures we were supposed to take :: our awesome Christiania bike, it will be once everyone get healthy and our dear loving man stops travelling for a bit [to actually be able to take the picture, it is easier if are all in the same country]...
